We stopped at the south side of the Sarnersee (lake Sarnen) for a quick swim. It was pretty warm (around 30°C) so cooling down in the lake was a great option.

We took al cable car up to Fiescheralp. This cable car goes all the way up to mount Eggishorn. We hiked around the mountain as you can see in the next series of photos.

We saw a bunch of parasailers getting higher and higher (as you will notice in some other photos)

There was a relatively flat path around mount Eggishorn for 12.3km ([url=http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/breathtaking-views-of-the-aletsch-glacier.html]more information[/url])

A lot of melting water still came down the mountain flanks

In the middle of the photo there is a tunnel leading to the other side of the mountain giving us a nice shortcut.

Up and up they went

It was pretty cold in the tunnel and very wet but without it we would have to climb over the mountain

Between the mountains at the far end is the Aletsch glacier

The darker bands seen are called moraines. The westernmost medial moraine has been named the Kranzbergmoräne, and the easternmost carries the name Trugbergmoräne.

After we finished our hike around mount Eggishorn and alongside the Aletsch glacier we took the gondola lift down from Moosfluh to Riederalp. From there we took the gondola down to Mörel to get the train back to Fiesch where we parked our car.

An artifical lake with a beehive. The underground lake had to be drained to make the grottos accessible and a shaft was constructed here by human hands to divert the water into the Lorze. The "beehive" is an underwater formation that was moved into the modern artifical lake.
